Authentic Voicework: Yoga of the Voice Retreat (12-CEs)
June 10 & 11 , Sat 11-6 and Sun 10-5pm
This expressive arts modality guides you into the heart of your voice and authentic self. Also considered the "Yoga of the Voice", this course stretches boundaries we harbor around letting the voice be heard, exploring the connection to the authentic self through vocalizing, engages community in a unique way and opens brave new doors.
The philosophical premise behind Authentic Voicework is such that as tension in the body and mind release, new creative territory is more accessible and readily available to the "self". Authentic Voicework is a beginner class designed for non-singers and singers alike for the purposes of stress reduction, meditation and creative play. Many fun activities and exercises are geared towards bringing out the inner voice, to regain parts of your self that may be hidden. This course utilizes postural awareness, breathwork, stretching, and creative vocalizing, and disperses old inhibitions only to find new tools of freedom. As tension is released, new creative territory is more accessible allowing for a wider range of motion of expression, and freeing the participant's “authentic voice”. Topics include the body as instrument, the voice as an extension of self, reconnecting with your power and voice as barometer. Authentic Voicework harbors a safe creative space for allowing and facilitating this experience. Heidemann facilitates an open, deep, and powerful experience that gently opens and melts away layer upon layer of unseen inhibition and fear, and uncovering the natural lightness and freedom of the natural voice.
This 2-day workshop introduces the voice & breath as physical instruments to be used as a form of energy work, and to have a chance to experiment as a group with your own voice, and experience the healing benefits! Participants are often amazed to witness the powerful shift in energy. This modality of healing, founded in Expressive Arts Therapy, includes elements of energy work, classical voice technique, Feldenkreis, bodywork, Alexander Technique, Yoga, Somatic Psychology, Meditation and the mystical path of sound and music or "Nada Yoga".
